Surviving Spouses

The Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America has assembled resources to help the surviving spouses of military veterans upon their passing. This information will be invaluable and a blessing to the surviving spouse during a time of mourning. Please review the included information and prepare the documents to convey your final wishes and to help transition accounts and control over to the surviving member.

“BEING DEAD IS NO EXCUSE”

The information provided below was part of a MSVC-MOAA membership workshop held February 19, 2021, regarding getting personal affairs in order to lessen the burden on family and loved ones in the event of the military member’s passing.

There are two (2) MOAA national publications that were referenced during the February meeting:
1.) Personal Affairs Guide, February 2017, and
2.) Survivor’s Planning Guide, January, 2019

Please note: To obtain your copies of these helpful publications, Life and Premium members may download the documents using the links above or to have the publications sent to you for free, contact MOAA National’s Member Service Center (MSC) at 1-800-234-6622 (provide your eight digit member number). Receipt after request takes around 2 weeks, so to have these resources available for our February 19th meeting, make your requests to MOAA NLT February 1st.
